         Sourabh Bhat

Sourabh Bhat hails from East Brunswick, New Jersey, and is a sophomore in the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business where he is majoring in Finance and International Political Economy. Aside from running GDISC, he is the Director of Operations and Technology for NAIMUN LII, and is the Vice President of Hoya Helpers, a local DC tutoring organization.  Sourabh is delighted to welcome all to the 4th Annual Georgetown Diplomacy and International Security Conference for High School Students.

Matt Hinson

Matt Hinson is a proud member of the Walsh School of Foreign Service Class of 2017. Born and raised in Princeton New Jersey, he  is is majoring in International History with a focus in conflict studies. Besides being Director of Logistics for GDISC, he is an editor for the Caravel, a member of the GU Roosevelt Institute and an avid runner. Matt looks forward to the conference and hopes to spark students’ interest in international relations.

         Mason Hill

Mason Hill is a member of the Walsh School of Foreign Service Class of 2016. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, he serves as the Director of Outreach for GDISC, Chairman of the Special Events Committee for the School of Foreign Service’s Academic Council, and choreographer for the Georgetown University South Asian Society’s annual cultural show Rangila. He is pursuing a major in International Politics, concentrating in Security Studies, as well as a Certificate in Arab Studies. He is thrilled to work with GDISC and is looking forward to making this the best conference yet.

     Trellance Lawimore

Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Trellace is a junior in the School of Foreign Service and plans to major in International Economics or International Political Economy. Her primary academic interest is global economic development, and she is excited to be a part of the Georgetown IRC through the GDISC as well as Communications sub-boards. In addition to the IRC, Trellace is also a member of the Georgetown University Concert Choir and Episcopal Student Ministry.

Duy Mai

Born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam but went to high school in Pennsylvania and now in the SFS class of 2018, Duy is part of both the IRC GDISC and IRC Outreach Team. His interest lies in international relation, trade, economics and international law. While he expects to graduate with an International Political Economy degree, his true aspiration is to drop out, seek sponsorship through crowdfunding sites and start his own company. He is also looking at a career in both the private and public sectors.

Tim Yin

Timothy Yin is a sophomore in the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, he spent the last seven years living in Shanghai before coming to Georgetown.  In high school, he was highly involved in Model United Nations, public forum debate, and international extemporaneous speaking.  He is interested in regional politics in East Asia, international law, and economic development in the BRICS countries.

Conor Sakati

Connor Sakati is a member of the Walsh School of Foreign Service Class of 2018. Originally from southern New Hampshire, he grew up with a love for everything outdoors. At Georgetown, he is involved with music, debate, and student government in addition to serving on the GDISC staff. Connor intends on studying French and Arabic, and is interested in Central Asia, political economy, international institutions, and comparative history.

Jim Pennel

Jim Pennell is a member of the Walsh School of Foreign Service Class of 2018. Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, he plans on majoring in International Politics. Apart from being a Panel Coordinator for GDISC, he is also a member of the Georgetown Club Badminton Team, volunteers for DC Reads, and serves as Director of Marketing for the Freshman Executive Committee.

Xavier Gurrola

Xavier is a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He’s majoring in International Politics with a concentration in Foreign Policy Analysis. In his free time, he loves listening to various genres of music and playing guitar in his band. Originally from Chicago, Xavier enjoys watching the Chicago Bulls, traveling with the Model United Nations team, and eating anywhere other than the dining hall. His interest in international relations started while researching the conflicts in the Middle East for a high school project. Xavier is unbelievably excited to be coordinating a panel at this year’s GDISC conference.

Alec Kingston

Alec Kingston – Graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, MA cum laude with the Marsh Prize in Biology. She was the president of the UNICEF club, a community service coordinator, a peer tutor, and three year member of the varsity crew team. She spends her summers as the Head Instructor of the GLPYC Junior Sailing Program in Connecticut. She grew up and currently lives in Swampscott, MA as the oldest sibling in a family of five. She is currently a freshman in the SFS with the intention of majoring in STIA with a concentration in Global Health.

Yanitsa Mihaylova

Yanitsa Mihaylova is a transfer student to Georgetown this year from Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, CA. She is originally from Bulgaria and moved to the U.S. eleven years ago. She is currently studying Political Economy with a possible minor in Computer Science. Yanitsa is on the Treasury Board of the International Relations Club and also working at the NAIMUN and NCSC conferences. She is additionally serving on the board of the Georgetown Sustainable Oceans Alliance, StartUp Hoyas and is a Campus Writer for a new student-run online publication, Venture Capitol. Yanitsa is passionate about entrepreneurship, business, international relations, and Eastern European politics. She looks forward to GDISC this year and hopes that the conference will be exciting and engaging for all.

Gary Xie

Gary Xie was born in Guangzhou China and raised in Vancouver Canada. He is currently a freshman in the College studying Government. Coming from the beautiful west coast shores, Gary has a love for water sports. From canoeing to water skiing, Gary loves to spend weekends admiring the natural wonders. In Georgetown, Gary is involved with College Academic Council, College Democrats, GUCSSA, the crew team and of course IRC GDISC
